Microplastics
Microplastics; generally defined as tiny plastic fragments, fibers, and granules particles that are <5 mm in diameter.
They have been detected in different environmental compartments. Some examples include river sediments in Germany, floodplain soils in Switzerland, a river in China, even a freshwater lake in the Arctic region.
